If anyone is worried about the appearance of the EcoProteQ coating, fret not. I know it appears to be a flat finish on this page, but on the bike, it has the patina of sterling silver. Much nicer looking than galvanized (zinc). Shown here set off against nickel plate cogs.

I have used KMC chains for years. They are a durable chain at an affordable price. The manner in which this chain is fabricated, allows for smooth shifting. The quick link system makes sizing, installing and removing the chain, a snap.

116 links for a reason. 8 speed chains from two other well-regarded manufacturers come with 114 links. Except I had an application where the large/large gear combo *required* 116. Shifts excellently with this bike's Shimano Altus derailleur paired with a SunRace 8 speed freewheel.

X8 is a great chain reminds me of the old school uni glide chain when I started mountain biking back in the 70s
